dualbootpro stopped working

Postby jlm-novice » Sat Jan 01, 2011 10:52 pm

my dualbootpro suddenly stopped giving me the choice of either XP or W7

boot info shows:
Entry 1
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: XP
BCD ID: {6614be75-ed78-11de-9120-b8065a3b2533}
Boot Drive: D:
System Bootloader: \ntldr

Entry 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: W7
BCD ID: {default}
Boot Drive: F:
Windows Drive: F:
System Bootloader: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

yet the boot.ini shows only

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOWS="XP" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

HOW DO I GET THE W7 STARTUP CHOICE TO RETURN??

jim,

The easy fix is to open DBP and click on Bootloader and then reinstall the system bootloader with Vista/7/2008. If that doesn't work then there may be some missing files but the problem isn't with DBP. It is actually with the bootloader. For some reason it reverted to using the legacy XP method instead of maintaining the new bcd method. :yesnod:
