Dual Boot - Add Windows7 after Win2k

Dual Boot - Add Windows7 after Win2k

Postby paulkruger » Wed Jun 24, 2009 7:36 pm

I am considering an upgrade but want to try application compatibility first.

Has anyone added either Vista or Windows7 Beta to existing Windows 2000 system in dual boot?

I have an Athalon 64x2 processor and would like to try the Win 64 bit so I can see if my existing applications will function. No point in wasting time and money to upgrade OS if my applications won't run.

Any assistance or directions would be most appreciated.

Thanks.... :P

mmm...I've had no problems dual booting Windows Vista and Windows 2000 in the past, but haven't tried with Windows 7. I'd say that provided you keep all fixed HDD's plugged in and do not change your BIOS HDD priority order, Windows 7 should identify arcldr and boot.ini correctly with Windows 2000 installed first.

There may be some useful info for you HERE and feel free to ask any further questions.
