These guys just wont give up the monopoly, and for a vey good reason at that. Moolah!
Anyways.. I have tried this decoration on my driver & tried to install it on WindowsXP 64 platform & it did work.
Too bad it does not work in sonic's case. Maybe the driver code is not meant to recognize Nt specific platforms ? (just guessing)...
Here's the link to what you could try Sonic
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/in ... _reqs.mspx
Thats where I got my info from.. Be careful before trying the last part where it mentions stuff abt the registry.
I have been working converting a 32-bit code to 64 bit for the past few months & have come across issues such as pointer truncation, memory mapping, alignment .. etc to name few..
Its good to be on this forum with like minded people..
Cheers
Congratulations Aurilieus and by the way welcome to PROnetworks
Its good to know this stuff can work and hopefully you can help Sonic out with his drivers
Oh and if you have some spare time let me know (just joking) - I'm stuck with a printer or two that needs x64 drivers and the manufacturers have no intention of making them available
Sure thing Gravity... Bring it on > lemme see what I can Do about it...
For now I need some help with getting a missing component of a standard tools package....
The folder structure is as follows
Tools>DDk>amd64>Bin,Inc,Lib
Now the INC has atl21,atl,crt,ddk,mfc42,wnet.. Whats missing is the wxp folder that has sevral include files that I need to get my build running.
The same package for windowsXP 32 bit has the Winxp folder with the INC files....and I am able to build the 32 bit code for wxp with ease .... Now this is definitely a part of the standard package for developing 64 bit driver codes....
I wud greatly appreciate any help
Thanks

Hey I am not finding much that can be of help to you Aurilieus, but see if you find anything usefull at these links

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/ddk/default.mspx
Doesn't look like there is a download link for the DDK either except for MSDN Subscribers

Thanks for the links grav!ty ... I had found reference in them related to my problem, earlier.. Since then I have procured the DDK for windows server 2003 with service Pack 1 from MSDN subscriptions
But it so turns out that the DDk package is general for most platform drivers. Like, there isnt anything specific to the build of windows Xp 64 bit in that. It so turns out that the drivers are built for one super set platform i.e for wnet & those are used for all platform drivers( be it winXP 64 bit or i386 or IA64)., at least so I was informed by my colleague.
More info can be found here http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/ddk/ddkfaq.mspx
Maybe this info can be used for future reference.

So is there support to force drivers to install in Server 2003 x64?
I was a part of the beta and can get the trial version, if it can force the driver to install....

I am not sure if there are any guidelines in the package to force install drivers for x64 but yes the package does contain a common toolset,as per this ......
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/fo ... chDDK.mspx
Nevertheless,I was able to modify & force install my driver using the very same toolset .

Ok thanks,
I think I might just free up some space and try the Server 2003 x64 OS. I've used Server (R2) in the beta, so I'm very familar with the tweaks to get it running like a regular OS
