Diskeeper 10 Beta for Vista Beta 2; how is it working?

Postby kd1966 on Sun Jun 11, 2006 4:08 pm

I started this thread for the purpose of discussing this new Beta for Diskeeper. What I'd like to see is your comments and such on your installations, running the program, it's options, and how well you think it worked. Don't be shy and please post screenies if at all possible to show us what occurred.
Thanks and look forward to reading your posts!

9) Back to "Getting Started":

<a href="http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0611dk98wt.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/7637/0611dk98wt.th.jpg" border="0"></a>

11) After highlighting volume D (Vista) and selecting "Enable..." The default is "Smart Scheduling," which runs Diskeeper silently in the background whenever needed, but any schedule may be selected.

<a href="http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0611dk112jk.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/495/0611dk112jk.th.jpg" border="0"></a>

12) Back to "Getting Started" for final steps:

<a href="http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0611dk121ms.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/3282/0611dk121ms.th.jpg" border="0"></a>

After following the simple steps above from the "Getting Started" window, Diskeeper is set to automatically defragment volume D (Vista) in one hour and then whenever needed.

Any or all volumes may be defragmented manually, set to a specific schedule, or set to "Smart Scheduling" as above, which requires no work on the user's part after the initial setup.

Unlike other defragmenting programs, work may proceed and programs may be used while defragmenting is taking place.

In this example above, the first defragmentation has not been completed at this time.

Wow!! Thanks for that Larry - I've had it installed for abotu a day and a half and only have a couple of screenies, but lots of questions yet to be answered..........

It does seem to actually defrag Vista fairly well in comparison to the Vista defragger

this thing is so much better than the built in defragger. If MS doesn't get their act together in fixing defrag.exe, Diskeeper and other such programs are going to get a lot of business.

My Lenovo laptop came with Diskkeeper lite installed, do you think this beta would run on XP, I love the program :whistle

EDIT:
This Diskeeper build will only install on the specific builds of the 32-bit Vista noted, it will not install on other Windows platforms. Also note this Diskeeper build must be installed/uninstalled by the default Administrator account only

I'm still gonna try anyways

No, it says it will only install on Vista. Although they do have a fully functional 30 day trial of the XP version.

Yeah, but that's no surprise, as MS has yet to make a decent defragger with their OS's......... the worst of which were pre-XP OS's
