That is super crazy, I was just looking through the forum for this post to post an update...

Update: I just installed a replacement drive that HP sent to me and everything works perfectly now.

I don't know if this will help out any, but if you use those DVD lens cleaning CD's with the brushes on them, keep the brushes clean or they can do one of two things: scratch the lens (ruins the drive) or gum it up if it has anything sticky on it.

But anyway, glad to hear you fixed it (and probably scored some brownie points with your little lady-friend ^*^ :lol: )

Sounds lie you need to sart looking for a new drive. I had this error happen to me on a badly scratch CDRW.
