Here is an excellent tweak to shorten the Control Panel sub/sub etc. menu mess to get to where you want to go quickly. Unless you know the direct run commands, then this is the next best thing IMO.

Make a new folder anywhere you want, and I mean anywhere and rename it
Code: Select all
AdminMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
, and it doesn't matter at all what you put to the left of the period, I chose 'AdminMode' for now. From there, one just finds the category one needs and double-clicks on the sub-entry to immediately go there. ^*^ After that then just create a shortcut.

This works with any Vista/Windows7 version AFAIK. Enjoy. :yesnod:

Pretty sweet. Works in Vista for sure. I will have to add this to my desktop at home (Win7). :yesnod:

So this grabbed my attention and it looks like you can do this with many other things as well. I created shortcuts to different CP items by grabbing the GUID out of the registry. :)

Yup man, here's the whole list, and probably where all this started, that I found after some digging. I'm not sure that I'll use all those though it's nevertheless interesting.
