Claimed "earlier version OS"

Postby vtrader on Thu Dec 18, 2008 4:54 pm

Using Vista Home Premium x-64. Booting no trouble, Recommended to install VistaBootPro3.3. Wanted to speed up boot so installed your program. NOW I have trouble. System claims I also have an earlier OS - not to my knowledge! I have never had a dual-boot system.
During boot F8 key doesn't select anything & Enter key doesn't work. (Possibly because it is a MS Wireless Entertainment KB 7000 [Bluetooth]) which may be incompatible with BootPro).
After the default timeout boot I get two screens whcich I have saved as OS_DetectionError.jpg and BCD_RegistrySettings.jpg

Since I didn't have a problem to start with, unless you can suggest a solution I will uninstall BootPro3.3 and go on my merry way - sadder if not wiser.

i am sorry to say that VBP is not made to "speed up" your boot times, but is to make the editing of the BCD registry easier, if your system is slow VistaBootPro is not going to make it faster. it just enables you to "Dual-Boot", so that second entry in the registry is just something that you added, you can use VBP to remove it. that Earlier version OS would mean that you set it up to install an OS up XP, if you were to install XP it would work fine after you edit the BCD in Vista. sorry to say the error was not caused by BCD, it was a PEBKAC error... whomever recommended you to install VBP to "speed Up" your boot time is the person whom misinformed you.

i am truly sorry for their misinformation. However if you would like to install XP or another Legacy OS and dual boot with Vista VBP would be the recommended choice.

simply install the Legacy OS, then install VBP and all the Vista entry back into the BCD, there are tutorials around here, i am sure some one more qualified will be of much greater help in this regard.

happy holidays, and merry chrismahanaquanzica, yule, Diwali, and NATCHITOCHES.

You should be able to use VBP to remove the phantom boot option :)
