Changing from 32bit to 64bit vista - with dualboot

Postby Azjo » Sun Feb 25, 2007 6:36 am

If i install vista x64 directly over x32 the same way, i assume it will not cause any problems with the vista boot files on the XP harddrive?
Or do i have to completely uninstall dualboot first?

I doubt it, but i need some reassurance.

The only issue I can think of is HDD space available; what is likely to occur is your x86 Vista install will get put into a directory (Windows.old) for possible rollback, and can be deleted later. Just make sure you have sufficient room on the HDD for this.

Vista is on a different partition/drive.
Those bootfiles that 32bit vista has put on my xp partition, they are identical to the ones in 64bit vista?

The bootloader is not 32bit or 64bit specific, the bootloader exsists in a layer that loads prior to your OS which is the 32bit or 64bit specific part.
