Cannot boot Vista anymore

Cannot boot Vista anymore

Postby Hans.List » Mon Jul 20, 2009 7:22 am

On my C: partition I had Win2K, on my D: I have XP Media Edition and on my E: (logical) I have Vista.

I decided to replace Win2K with XP (Pro).

I now have a boot menu offering XP (Pro) and XP Media Edition.

I ran the Vista setup DVD and executed 'Repair' to restore the MBR.

I did everything described here:

QUESTION: Can I use VistaBoot Pro to gain access to my Vista again?

Thanks,
Hans

Yes, you can use VistaBootPRO to force installation of the Vista bootloader. Just remember to use the "all drives" option.

Personally, for extra insurance, I like to force installation of legacy bootloader on all drives, then immediately (prior to reboot) force installation of Vista bootloader, again all drives.

It should easily get your bootloader back to normal anyway :)

Thank you for your reply. Since I have no experience with this procedure, would you please be so kind to give me detailled instructions for this steps:

1. force installation of legacy bootloader on all drives
2. force installation of Vista bootloader, again all drives.

Thank you very munch for your kind help!
