As long as you can see the hidden and system files.

Do a search on all hard drive for the files

Thanks NT50, I've been having the same problem as dannyplomp and your solution worked. Here's what I did:

I copied the ntldr and NTDETECT files from within the I386 file folder on my Windows XP Pro (service pack 2 included) DVD. I pasted them in the root drive where my win xp resides, (in my case E:\). In vista, I clicked the start menu and entered Boot.ini in the search field, (it eventually found it on my root drive for vista (in my case C:\). I right clicked on Boot.ini and copied the location of this file. I then pasted it in the root directory for win xp which created a shortcut to the boot.ini file on C:\

I believe I've had to do this because the Vista Bootloader does not recognize \Windows as the windows directory, it just leaves this entry blank:

Name: Windows XP Pro
BCD ID: {ntldr}
Drive: E:\
Bootloader Path: \ntldr
Windows Directory:

Thanks again!
