well the thing is this computer came with one cdrw combo drive something like 8X. Now i have a 52X TDK burner a 52X cdrom for on the fly burns plus i have added another 20 gig hdd. i would like to get more fans for the new case also. some people have told me that they cant believe my supply hasnt died yet.

Having more power is NOT a bad thing!! For one thing...once you upgrade the case...the rest is soon to follow!! ^*^

A bigger power supply doesn't put more power to the mobo...it just means that there is more available if the need arises. The voltage is the same(12/5volts) just that if the system wants more...it's there! So you should have no worries...I don't know of nay eMachines that were AT systems...they haven't been around THAT long!!

keep in mind also that any of the big computer makers love to do the hardware lockin when they sell you a box. For example, with Dell you cannot just upgrade your power supply even though the pins look the same. They tweak it and make it only work with other Dell power supplies. HP/Compaq, IBM, Gateway all do the same. It would not surprise me if eMachines did the same.

Just a word of warning. GL

Nah..eMachine doesn't do anything "wierd"...the only restrictions are the size!! The real small footprint eMachines required a "pint-size" power supply that was fairly pricey...but was "standard" in every other respect!

The other concideration is that the mobo may not fit(stand-off wise) to the new backplane...but that always "correctable" if you're persistant!! <G>
