BOOT From ATAPI CDROM: Failure

Postby mellaby » Tue Jan 29, 2002 12:57 am

Recently purchased XP ready PC, already crashed "primary master disk failure", under warranty and received replacement. Now I see when booting up a message that reads "Boot from ATAPI CDROM: Failure..." still boots up but is this telling me something is wrong? Nervous!

Ok, let me explain. That just means, that the system is trying to boot off the cd, and tells you. Nothing is wrong. It just means, if you put in a bottable disc, like winXP, or win98 disc, it will boot right off it. Josh

Also, your boot settings can be ammended in your bios. ( probably f1/f2 or delete at start up).Check your first boot device setting ( obviously this is you atapi cd rom)and set it to your ide ( hard drive . Once done, this should remove cd rom boot failure.
