I think john and rippin are missing the bigger picture and are confusing some of the posters here.
Fahrenheit 9/11 is a movie. Nothing more and nothing less.
Believeing it is a political commentary, or a fact driven biopsy of American stupidity, is ludicrous.
Its like believing that machines are going to rule over us in the near future and we are all going to live in virtual reality while machines harvest our body heat to fuel them selves.
There are 2 major problems here that are not being addressed.
One is that Americans love to self-defecate. Whether it is the puritanical ancestry we grow from, or merely the memes passed off by would be intellectuals, that being good is bad, and being bad is good.
For instance. A successful business man that pays his taxes and makes very popular software, is Evil.
A guy that makes millions from stealing lying and crticizing the average working man, is rated as Good.
(It would be intersting to note the amount of people with think that Fahrenheit 9/11 is insightful, are also those that think Bill Gates should burn in hell).
You must understand, that the average person posting on these boards is probably well under 20 years old. Hell even the founder is only 23! The problem with your arguments, is that these are anti-authorative persons that want every part of "sticking it to the man." Funny thing is the are going to grow up to be "the man" and wil turn around and scold the youths of today for doing the same thing they are doing now.
The anti-bush arguments I have heard over the last year are some of the dumbest things I have ever read. There are plenty of resons not to like our president, but you won't find one good one on any of these message boards. You have to actually dig for most of them, or be involved in the intelligence community.
I have heard the arguments "No Blood for oil!". Funny I thought it was blood for freedom. See before the war I was paying 1.19 a gallon for gas. Now I am paying 2 dollars? If its blood for oil why are the reserves so low? We freed a people and lost VERY FEW soldiers. That to me says something.
As for the Argument that Sadaam Hussein was not a threat to America? They tried to kill Daddy Bush. And After 9/11 Sadaam offered 25,000 dollars to anyones family that had someone that died, while killing an American.
The 80's brought about such awful weapons technologies, people begin to think that war is merely a matter of pushing buttons.
Sure we killed have killed Hussein within 5 minutes of deciding too. But we as the world power and a decent bunch of Stupid White Men, decided that we should not try to kill innocent people.
And the stupid white men to be's (the screaming left) are proclaiming that we our losing our sons and daughters for THEM. (Remember, THEY are the enemy;) )
The tree of liberty has to be refreshed every so often by the blood of tyrants and patriots.
Things that are not worth fighting for or dying for are not worth anything.
I have wasted tto much time on this topic today. perhaps another day I can help ease the tensions on something more relevant to our lives. Not just a movie.
