APM problem??

Postby sgtjayclark » Wed Feb 06, 2002 1:59 pm

I have a Dell Latitude C600 with a P3 750 and 256k ram. Since I have installed XP Pro it won't shutdown automatically. I have to hold the power button down for 6 seconds to make it power down. Any suggestions as how to make this work again?

I got this problem too, I took advice from someone about replacing the Shell32.dll file. This caused disaster, had to reinstall xp, it worked after. But it happened me again the other day, but it just went away again. Usually for me, if i disconnected from the internet before shutting off my pc, it won't turn off. Strange but if i download with out disconnecting it shuts down. I amnt sure what it is, maybe it could have to do with changing the logon screen or something. Hope it helps, even though it isn't much. Donal
