From my limited knowledge of testosterone, it is not used for "endurance" athletics, but mostly with strength/power type of sports like weight lifting.

Also, the body is known to produce it in higher levels during certain "emotional" types of scenarios. I think Landis will be cleared of any wrongdoing, but it certainly isn't being reported accurately at this point.............. and why should it? It's a great ratings booster............. however you look at it

I agree but there are normal ranges of testoterone and then there's abnormal. I really haven't read anything in depth on the subject. All that I know now is that his team has suspended him. I wonder where the tests are being done? Here's hoping for the best.

Yeah, that part is kinda weird to me (The "where" are they doing the testing) And if they're testing after every stage, how freakin LONG does it take to get a result??

Well, now Greg LeMond rears his ugly head. :confused WAIT for the B sample, idiot! Why is he dragging L.A. into this, he never even had a false positive!? :roleeyes
In a veiled reference to seven-time winner Lance Armstrong, long dogged by doping allegations, LeMond added: ``I hope that [Landis] won't do what another American did: deny, deny, deny."

There is really something wrong with that guy (Lemond); it seems as if maybe the cycling community has given him the "brush off" and he's still bitter............... To tell you the truth, I think he was getting used to being the "ONLY" American (At the time) to win the Tour, and now that his couple of years of notoriety are gone, he's looking for ways to show his mug again..........
But you're right......... what a complete idiot

Hmm, seems LeMond had quite an eventful life, on and off the track.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_LeMond#Racing_career

Disaster struck LeMond while turkey hunting in California, April 20, 1987, when his brother-in-law accidentally discharged his shotgun, striking LeMond in the chest just over two months before the 1987 Tour de France was to begin. LeMond missed the following two Tours while recovering, also undergoing surgery for appendicitis and for tendonitis in his leg.

Well allrighty then........... it seems I am at least partially correct - he has a distinct desire to see his name in the headlines, especially if he can take someone elses good name down to get it there.

That's pretty pathetic talking about how he "COULD HAVE" won 5 Tours.........

True enough, anyways that's life Greg! Live with it instead of whining or wishing. It's too bad that he sullies his own name IMHO. I really do hope that the B sample comes back negative but it makes me wonder why Landis held that news conference as he didn't have to.

Is he trying to change opinions before the B sample comes back because he knows what it will say? I really hope I'm wrong here and wish the science backs his claims.

I think the news conference is a prep for the coming onslaught (Could there be any more??) when his B sample shows the same result.
The factual reporting on this is horrendous; even I was wrong on what I azzumed was the issue/problem with his A sample.
His A sample is NOT for high levels, it is an "UNUSUAL" RATIO between the testosterone and epitestosterone. So he's not actually being accused of having "TOO MUCH", just that the ratio in the sample has a greater ratio than what they consider to be normal

You're quite right, the weird thing is that Googling 'hyperthyroid epitestosterone'

only came up with news stories about Landis, but there's no medical links. :confused We shall see.

EDIT: New search using just 'epitestosterone' gave me this
