Anyone notice what happened to Page Rank recently?

I noticed it, but only today did some research on it.

Looks like tons of folks took brutal hits in Page Rank from Google.

Personally I think this is ridiculous... the Washington Post has a PR of 5? Microsoft only a 9? Ummm

That's amazing. I wonder what's up them? Must have restated their criteria, but how would they do that?

Rumor is they are "punishing" sites that link mostly internally. I can't confirm that, but that's the rumor a lot of sites seem to point too.

Yeah, seems their trying to punish sites. Sites such as link directories have taken a big hit in PR.

I think pagerank is based on linking, so possibly sites that link internally are messing up their pagerank system by increasing traffic to sites that otherwise wouldn't have high pageranks?

Just a guess, I can't honestly say I understand the system at all.
