Another day, another dishonest ad from John McCain

Postby Grav!ty on Thu Aug 07, 2008 1:06 am

'More celebrity than leader'

August 06, 2008

Republican presidential candidate John McCain isn't letting Paris Hilton distract him from his new line of attack - that Barack Obama is more of a celebrity than a leader.

McCain on Wednesday released a second television ad that paints Obama as a celebrity, following an earlier ad that linked his Democratic rival in the November election to tabloid staples like Hilton and Britney Spears.

The new ad avoids any mention of Hilton or other Hollywood types, but covers similar ground.

'The biggest celebrity in the world'

"Is the biggest celebrity in the world ready to help your family?" the ad asks, over ominous music and slow motion images of Obama appearing before an ecstatic crowd.

It says an Obama presidency would lead to higher taxes and fewer jobs while McCain would create jobs and energy independence.

The Obama campaign called the ad misleading and said Obama would provide tax cuts for a greater proportion of Americans than McCain.

"Another day brings another dishonest attack from John McCain," Obama spokesperson Bill Burton said.

"It's time to retire these old policies and bring new energy to America."

McCain's first ad, released last week, was widely panned by pundits and denounced as cynical by Obama.

Now I'm not sticking up for anyone because my mind is still not made up on who I'm going to vote for, but that's the way I've always seen him. I'm really very disappointed with both candidates.

this post would probably be more appropriate in the opinion's area... since the title is very opinionated.

Ah more Bush-Rove politics at work. Down and dirty in the mud as always.

@gries818: That McCain is not honest with his campaigning is not an opinion, it's the truth.

Obama Strikes Back: 'It's Like These Guys Take Pride in Being Ignorant'

Obama said: "Now two points. One, they know they are lying about what my energy plan is. But the other this they are making fun of a step that every expert says would absolutely reduce our oil consumption by 3 to 4%. It's like these guys take pride in being ignorant."

LMAO, now that was funny.

I thought the whole "I don't look like any of those guys on the dollar bills" incident was humorous too.

Only in America could a man who's black be called a racist because he points out he is, in fact, black and not like the former Presidents. Go figure.

the best part is that if you keep your tires inflated properly, you get better wear on them, longer usage, and several other things. Sure, your ride may not be quite as comfortable, but your car will be safer and you'll save money in many ways and keep the tires out of the landfill for longer.

Yeah it's a silly argument on the republican's part.

FYI, I did move this to the Politics (new name) area.

i dont believe either one of them will help our country. we have come so far down that it will take some serious gumption and leadership to fix it.
we should be more open to investing in clean air and energy
we should be opening schools and adding more teachers and programs instead of getting rid of them.
we need to encourage more people to graduate from high school and get out into the work force instead of becoming welfare dependent.
we need available health coverage for everyone and better income guidlines for getting state healthcare.
social security will run out in 2042 so you gotta get yourself an IRA besides people shouldnt be dependent on the government for retirement we should be responsible for that for ourselves.
so until i hear one of them talk about fixing this stuff it really doesnt matter who is elected
