A Digital Age Deserves A Digital Leader

After SP1 retweak your services.

After SP1 retweak your services.

After installing XP's SP1 on my machine I noticed that the boot time was extremely long. I ran "services.msc" and noticed that all of the services I had previously disabled were now set to Automatic again. So if you have tweaked your services and now notice a boot lag, extremely long boot, or hang on bootup, you may need to retweak those services.

Hi, yep I found exactly the same - bootup takes ages. :( .

However, I can't tell what tweaks were or were not disabled before (kids - ). I also don't have the knowledge to know which ones to disable.

Running a XP2000+ on a K75SA motherboard.

Please can you help in giving me the ones you disable to speed up booting?

Thanks and much appreciated in advance, :D

Have a look here http://windows-administrator.com/services.shtml for a description of each service.

You should be able to make an informed choice of which ones you need or can do without.

This site has a nice description of what each does, but save yourself a headache and as you disable a service, jot it down on a piece of paper. There were about 18 or 20 services I was able to disable without affecting my network or computer, but I would have never remembered which ones if something broke.
