It's allready 35 cm or so...the bad thing temperature is rising to 0 degrees celsius...Now I hope temperature lowers quick (it's 3 PM here) so the snow that is falling will remain on the ground... No-one was able to reach the school this morning.

Yep, that's right. Tonight there might fall another 15 cm of snow...that makes 50 in total, something that happens once in 50 years here.

Where I live the last storm that big was in 1970. Montreal was paralyzed for weeks. It was snowing lightly in the morning and by 5 PM, the busses weren't running and people were stranded at the subways. There were snowmobiles that "helped" people by charging them through the roof. I was lucky though, I skipped school that day. :whistle

I take it you mean Thessaloniki , because it didn't snow in Peiraius which is the largest harbour here ( Thesalloniki has the third largest but second more important )

It snowed in Northern Hellas and it still is in the city that are build in high elevation ( mountains ). It did snow throughout the whole country , which consist mainly of mountains and seashores , on January and the first days of February.

It also snowed on the mountains that surround Athens but not in the city.

Some winters we have no snow at all. Sometimes we have one big one. But most winters we have what we call "nuisance snows," little snowfalls of an inch or less every week or 2.

This winter, we had very little snow until a couple of weeks ago. Since then we have had 4 snows (3 in the last week), 2 of them fairly large. It seems I am clearing snow off my car every few days. :blink :confused
