2 questions - updating graphics drivers & buying laptop

Postby Fidget » Mon Sep 12, 2011 6:52 pm

Hi. I'm trying to update drivers for my graphics card - nvidia geforce go 6150 version 7.15.11.7991.
Windows Vista Device Manager tells me my current driver is the proper one, but other tests I've run keep telling me I need to update it.
So I downloaded GeForce 280.26 from http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvi ... river.html - Can anyone tell me if this is the right driver?
I haven't opened the downloaded file yet. I've never changed drivers before. So how do I do the process using Windows Vista Device Manager - so I can Roll Back to my old driver if this is not right?

Also I have to choose between 2 computers by tomorrow. Suggestions? Thankyou

Hi Fidget, I see you brought your rodent friends along again.;) Ya, I'd go with Dell too. HP is going to stop selling hardware so I'm not sure of their long term logistics support will go. Either one would be great for you, even overkill but at these prices one can't pass them up if one is looking already.

BTW, I never update a driver unless I have a specific problem with same.

I'm the opposite of augie, I update my graphics, often. nVidia has been doing some changes to improve gaming. The changes are related to some specific games, but I feel they improve the overall, too. I feel the updates are more important, because I haven't the high end graphics, that some people can afford. :whistle
Most updates have a description of what the update does. If it sounds totally unrelated to you, you can ignore them.
