I've never actually used that one, sorry. It's the most popular free file recovery program but there are others.

You may want to go down this list -- they are in order of popularity, and all free.

I thank you so much for giving me the infos I needed it when u told about those programs WELL,I went I found the file recovery for seagate and by using that I could transfer my files to my computer(I couldn't get to the Hdd with free programs) and I reformatted the Hdd and now all I have to do is to transfer all the files back to external hdd.NOT bad .I couldn't do without ur helps I thank you a million again and ty for teaching me a few things I learned.May All ur problems be solved as easy as ur done mine.tyvm
