Here is the MS kb article for my problem:
926185

I know I can do the registry fix to protect my vista restore points from being deleted. The article also says I can use bitlocker. I don't have an experience with it. Will setting that up interfere with my xp/vista separate disc dual boot?

I found it and I really don't have an answer for you. I use neither. I do have XP64 on my system but I rarely ever boot to it.

Thanks for trying. I may just risk it.

EDIT: nevermind, I have just learn that using bitlocker without a tpm gets very involved. I'm going to try the registry mod instead.

That's the reason I used the registry fix.
