Running VBP fine (installed with telephone instruction from friend who is now not available) Vista and XP on seperate drives.
Had problems with XP so reinstalled.
I cannot now boot XP with VBP, but I can by changing Boot order which then boots directly into XP.
When trying to bot to XP using VBP I am told there is a file missing and to reinstall it.

I get the message Vista pro not installed or on hidden drive when I open
VBP
Have read forums and done the following
Copyed Boot folder and bootmgr to drive d (XP installed) and NTDETECT, ntldr and boot.ini to drive C (vista installed)

Run VBP Selected
Vista boot pro
All drives
Force bootloader install
No change
Have tried both as default OS

Have checked Drive C is system drive
Looks like d is also a system drive when in XP although its labled C and vista drive is then labled E
What should I do to get my VBP 3.3 operating both os again

There is currently 2 OS(s) installed on your system.
The current boot timeout is: 30

Default OS: Microsoft Windows Vista

Entry 1
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Microsoft Windows Vista
BCD ID: {current}
Boot Drive: C:
Windows Drive: C:
System Bootloader: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

Entry 2
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Windows XP
BCD ID: {ntldr}
Boot Drive: D:
System Bootloader: \ntldr

Thankyou
Steve

Is this the procedure you followed when you reinstalled XP? http://www.pronetworks.org/index.php/guides/post/reinstalling_windows_xp_when_dual_booting_with_windows_vista/

Or did you unplug your Vista drive?

If you did unplug your Vista drive I would reinstall XP following this guide. http://www.pronetworks.org/index.php/guides/post/install_windows_xp_in_a_dual_boot_with_pre_installed_windows_vista/

I unplugged the Drive with Vista on it so I could'nt accidently wipe off Vista or my 3rd drive which is purely a store (music etc) Are you saying the only way to get VBP to run is to reinstall XP again which I really would like to avoid if possible

If you have Vista up and running and XP installed on a second hard drive then use the guide below to get XP to dual boot.

Thankyou team all sorted. Hear is how!
I followed the trouble shooting guide but this made no differance. anino

Then I looked at the boot.ini which when compared with mine and using the explanation notes underneath I was able to correct the rdisc which was pointing to disk 0 instead of disk 2. Copyed and pasted to vista and XP drives, ran the sysem loader again and rebooted. Fixed! thumbsup

Thankyou very much for your help notworthy
