you will have to get used to vista coming straight from xp, however the way you do things on xp should be basically the same on vista. Once you dig under the shiny aero interface you'll find most things are still where they were

make sure you have all the driver you'll need on a usb stick or something that will be your main problem. although i have noticed vista does have a wide variety of built in drivers at least after sp1

Windows is windows to me, there is a start button, although it does not say start, it is in the same location as the one on XP, when you click on it a menu comes up just like XP.
You won't have any trouble adjusting to Vista, trust me.

Well sharing is a little different, takes a little bit more to share files than with XP, but it is no big deal.

First thing I always do is turn off User Account Control, because it drives me crazy. You can do that in Control Panel under User Accounts, you will see it when you go there.

I'd say prepare yourself for dual boot by installing XP first to the first partition of your HDD followed by Vista to the second partition. That way Vista will auto create a dual boot.

also i'd recommend getting tweakuac, it'll allow you to set uac to quiet mode so you get the protected mode in internet explorer but none of the pop up prompts asking for you to allow disallow.
