This week I got hit hard though. I think it was Tuesday night that I woke up freezing cold because the duvet had slipped off. Yesterday morning I felt really rotten and this morning my throat and nasal passages are sore and I'm coughing.

Generally when I feel like somethings coming on I dress warmer and take extra care not to expose myself to the cold and I just refuse point blank to have the cold. I also make sure I drink lots of liquid and eat right if I suspect somethings not quite right. This one kind of snuck up on me.

For the past year or so I've been doing quite a lot more than usual in terms of daily physical activity so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with getting sick now. Maybe it's also the much more severe cold dry winter here as opposed to the fairly moderate (except for a few weeks) Cape weather.

I believe it is the weather Graham. There are weather conditions or other parameters like migration for instance , here we have more than 20% migration from Asia and there are viruses that were brought with them that our bodies are not familiar with , that we are not familiar with. Our bodies just cannot fight it. A dry cold weather , if your weathers are milder and more wet , is a case that will cause to many people the flu a cold or even worst.

My wife, son and I all had it within the last month. I haven't been sick with a cold or flu for around ten years myself, and this year I got hit hard. Coughing, achy, fever, used quite a few rolls of tissue in a week.

There's something going around here too right now, and that's very weird for June in our area. My wife was sick this week and I can tell my own body is fighting it. Very strange timing for such warm weather.

Hope you're feeling better Graham. I know you folks are pretty chilly down there by now I'm sure. That certainly never helps.

Well dang-it Graham, I am sad to hear you are not feeling well now.
I am similar & normally don't get sick much if ever, but I do manage to burn-up 3-4 of my 5 sick days every year tongue

I hope you are feeling better every day now & back to your usual daily activities that you enjoy.

Thanks guys. I'm not as clogged up this morning and hopefully that's the tail end of it now.

I've been pretty lucky, haven't had a sick day in a very long time, even though the gf is a nurse at a hospital. thumbsup
