Argh... What a bad luck saywhat

At first, I thought the problem was because the Workbench doesn't have the mpega.library file as already said in the AMPlifier readme file. But after I found a site that provides those kind of files, the AMPlifier still won't load (and without providing any error message). confused

I was curious. I suspect it uses other libraries as well, like any other common programs, so I inspect the binary data and look for all references to library files. Guess what? There are more than 5 of them that are not mentioned in the readme file and that are not part of Workbench. This has given me a frustration. It reminds that most open source softwares have bad documentations. The website that provide the libraries and some other files (non-commercials only) can be reached here.

If you're up for some frustrations, view the AMPlifier file (as text) which comes from the LHA archive (via Windows). Do a text search for ".library" (includes the dot) and you'll find all the library files it uses.

I can't, Windows doesn't know what any of those file formats are. I've tried changing the extensions but when I open them all I see is a bunch of gibberish letters.

And, it sounds like you already know with files are needed. Do you? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes you're very most likely to find gibberish letters for program file, and so did I.
It's like treasure hunting. smile Of all of those gibberish letters, there's always human readable text, which can be a clue, or the jackpot.

I know most of the library mentioned by the AMPlifier program, though I'm not 100% sure I found all of them. Please keep in mind that some libraries may be optional. Here's the list (without the ".library" extension and that are not included in Workbench).

amplifierkey, amplifierplugin, cybergraphics, dos, doubbas, doubtrans, gadtools, graphics, icon, intuition, layers, singbas, utility, workbench, xadmaster.

You can see that I couldn't find the "mpega" library that was mentioned in the readme file. It probably required by one of the above libraries.

IMO, it seems that the AMPlifier is intended for a well updated Amiga system which already has all the bells and whistles. I also suspect that AMPlifier v2.32 is only runnable under Workbench v3.5 and above.
