mac os is devoluped off of darwin linux so does that mean that i can rightfully consider mac os a distobution of linux? maybe an easyer way of saying it would be can i do everything in mac os that i could do in an ordanary linux disrto. now i dont know linux yet so please explain in as much detial as possible.

Well, I'm no linux pro, but from my experience, mac OS is similar to linux in many ways. However, it's like a dumbed down and restricted version of linux. They both have the terminal with several commands that are similar in each. I'd say it's similar to having a limited windows user account vs. an adminstrator account.

Mac OS is built off of FreeBSD, so it's more of a BSD/UNIX than Linux. You could get all the funtionality of OS X, more speed, and much more openness from running FreeBSD too, though you wouldn't have the Mac GUI, or the ease of use.

more power? you know now that you mention it, it does seem kinda slow for a core 2 T7700. how do i speed it up?
