Last night I was successful at getting the (Verizon supplied) Actiontec M1424WR router configured so I can access My WHS Web Page.
Edit: I just tested from work & could access WHS @ home using the NO-IP & (server) URL,
both worked
Downloaded 2- things & uploaded 6 things too to be sure. |
Excellent work JD. Now you're getting the full benefit and power of WHS
Have you tried running it totally headless (without monitor, keyboard and mouse) yet from your client PC?

Thanks Graham,
Going remote was one good reason for installing for this OS, automatic backups is another
Though not totally headless
How about this for testing it headless & it makes it easy for accessing it when needed, tho its not stashed in a closet, basement or far away...
Whenever i access the WHS PC from a client w/ the Connector app., as w/ my setup i have 3- PC's sharing a keyboard, mouse & monitor & when i switch to the client (using the KVS switch) the WHS PC is on its own.
Tho i haven't done much tweaking of WHS (WUpdates, WHS Console) from a client PC to test that.

I have tried accessing the Server from work with the https://nameetc@livenode.com but that is unsuccessful. ]"edited" duh I was so used to the normal syntax I was typing wrong address should have been https://nameetc.livenode.com without the "@"

Now I can connect well sorta; I get as far as this screen
and try to connect to the server, but it times out before it connects. I also tried logging in via logmein.com and am unable to connect to a particular computer, but can connect to the other ones I have set up.
I am thinking that with Home Server if one of the computers that is setup on the network server is having connection problems or whatever, it makes the server disfunctional for lack of a better term. If all computers aren't A-ok you can't totally connect or rather remote in completely.

I don't know about the network theory.
None of my test rigs qualifies for RA

I have not had this problem (yet) using livenode, but I have seen somewhere(?) that others have.
Tonight (after work) I'll check again, where i have access to, there may be a answer there for this problem.

I have it... got it the other day from MS Connect. But I just installed V. HP. and will stick with it for now. If I can get a junker machine I will do that.

I just searched & found nothing besides someone losing something else & it turning up to be just a 'Settings' choice. You might check the settings button to see if there is anything there that may help... probably in the 'remote access' area?
If not hopefully its a bug that got fixed in the RTM.
Congrats Allan®, how did your installation go?
