Online Virus Scanners:

If you don’t want an a software virus scanner on your system, you can scan for viruses online. Most website's require that you install and Active-X plugin to do this. Please be careful when visiting sites that ask you to install Active-X plugins, many sites use this to install spyware on your system! All the sites listed below are spyware free and will not harm your computer! If you have Active-X disabled, you can enable it by following the following steps:

The default browser settings will allow ActiveX controls to download and run. A Medium Security Level allows ActiveX controls to download and run.

From the browser menu, click Tools > Internet Options
Click on the Security tab
Select the globe icon representing the Internet Zone
Click Custom Level
Scroll down to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section
Under Download signed ActiveX controls select Prompt
Under Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins select Enable
Under Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting select Enable
Click OK to close the Security Settings window (If prompted to verify that you want to change the security settings for this zone click Yes)
Click OK to close the Internet Options window

Now, with that done, you can choose one of the following for your online scan.

Free Scanners:

1. Trend Micro http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

2. Panda Active Scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

3. Computer Associates http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx

4. McAfee http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?cid=9914

Note: McAfee will scan your computer, but Will not remove the viruses that are found!

If for some reason this above list does not tickle your fancy, you can see a longer list of other scanners THIS site. Note: Not all of these are free and most of them have not been tested by myself, so use at your own risk

I've got to comment here...I've been using Trendmicro's Housecall for about a year now and they've apparently "enhanced" it!! I'm seriously NOT happy with the new version as it won't let you pick a drive to scan(I hook up a customers drive as a D driver and scan it about 6 times with various scanners) and the interface is "poofy" instead of functional!! And as to functionality...I really think that they are focuing on the updates that haven't been done and not getting the job done on virus's and spyware!

So while I USED TO recommend Housecall...I really can't at the moment. Try it...just don't trust it!

Not that I know of. The best thing for AIM viruses is AIMFix.

Glad it helps. However, the Mcafee online scanner doesn't remove the viruses.

Should viruses be found, FreeScan even provides links to more information about the viruses and what you can do to clean your system.

So did it find any viruses on your computer?
