Please anyone, i have cable with road runner, 2 pc's with windows XP, and apple laptop with os9, and a router. How do i configure the apple to be able to use the internet only. Something to do with the TCP/IP settings? like i have to look on the router and then imput those number into the Apple...

Actually, you DON'T have to look at the router...it'd just confuse you! You set up the Mac just like you would if it was directly connected to the cable modem. And it's real easy.

Go to your Apple menu...down to Control panel...down to TCP/IP. Click on this. On the top of the window that opens you'll find a drop-down window that'll let you pick your modem(phone line) or your Ethernet connection. Select the EtherNet. Farther down is a selection to use DHCP. Select that. Close the window and elect to SAVE when it asks you. Give it a second or two(the computer has to talk to the router...may take a minute) or reboot the system. Ta-Da!! You're connected. That's really all you need to do...the router and TCP/IP take care of the rest of the settings for you!

I got the internet working ok now my only problem is the fact that im not sure how to get access to share files.. i wanna use my laptop (apple os 9) to download muzic, but save it to the Pc.... then be able to listen to the music on the laptop, but access it from the pc...

You will need the program "DAVE" to access windows shares from the Mac, unless you want to upgrade to OS X (highly recomended).
