It worked 2 days ago... although now I see on the "config" pages (I checked them to make sure I had everything setup right) that they have added... make sure you update office to sp3 for 2002 and sp2 for 2003...

I never noticed this before.. but I am running the latest BETA and I checked the forums there as well as the google groupie things.

I just cant figure it out.

Other oddities to note. Send/recieve was by default set to 30 minutes. Yet it still is trying to do the 5 minute send recieve. confused:

I have triple / quadruple/ quintuple checked my settings.. (actually more like decachecked times 3) but it fails, and then when I try and log into my gmail account via webbrowser I get that password security thing like I made multiple attempts with a bad password

So obviously I assume its the password...

Soo I created a text file typed out the password...pasted it into gmail to change it
deleted the outlook account and recreated it pasting the new password into it.
Still no luck so I tried retyping it 4-5 times
nada

then I try accessing gmail and I gotta do that code thing again
AAARRRGGGHHH

Firewall is set to allow outlook

Oh BTW it gets stranger. It downloaded the new email messages but wont send.. and then wont log into the pop.gmail.account

confused:

ITs bizarro

anyone else having problems?

EDIT: trying a uninstall reg sweep file cleanup and reinstall

You mean reinstalling Outlook? I have not tried the gmail in Outlook2007 yet, although I do have an IMAP (from a web hosting service) email account I can access in Outlook 2003. I'll pop into Vista and take a look at setting up the gmail in O-20007 to see what you mean.

I'm not sure what is your question Rich, then again, I only skimmed your post.
I am using Outlook 2007 on 3 PCs (Dad's, mine, and family); and it works with Gmail great on Vista, 2k, 2k3, and XP.

Update 6.03.06: I just proved for sure that I can't send email from gmail from its own web site. I accessed the gmail site with FF v1.07. Tried to reply to an email in my inbox and all it did was hang.

Hi,

Mega dittos to all of the above. I'm tearing my hair out because I was trying to free myself of the email carousel every time I change from DSL to cable to ?

My trouble started about 5/8 when I switched from DSL to Comcast cable modem due to a move.

Here's what I've found: I was using FF v1.5(latest) and I couldn't do diddly on the gmail site; couldn't bulk delete spam, couldn't change settings, couldn't join forums(look for the prob). I dropped back to the previous version of FF and that went away. During that time IE v7 would do most of the things above. Then I decided to send and reply to email directly from gmail, and it wouldn't let me do that, either. I fiddled with my account and changed my alternate email address. I disabled XP firewall, for I'm behind a NAT router anyway. Before that I opened up the ports in the firewall prescribed by gmail in its Outlook configuration scheme.

I did get into the forums and the people who've noticed it are pi__ed; one guy put his small workgroup on it.

I do have the latest updates for Outlook; that's a laugher. I went on line for Windows Update and the web site failed with error 0x80072EE2. The solutions for that did nothing. I shut the machine down for awhile and when I booted up again, I was presented with all the updates. Go figure.

I'd really like to use gmail with Outlook. Anyone find any other answers?

TIA.

Cheers!

Hi,

Just for grins I decided to see if I could send through gmail using Outlook Express, latest update. I used a configuration *.exe furnished by gmail to configure it, but it looks like all the configuration information is the same as that I used in Outlook 2003.

I was able to send using OE. What is going on? Were the DOS cretins that took down Blue Frog/Blue Security able to block those of us that reported spam to Blue Security and screw up our ability to send through gmail? I reported about 5 spams per day to Blue Security.

I don't want to use OE unless I have to, for I like the full capability of Outlook. Maybe I'll try OL2007 Beta. Also, I think I'll try a fresh install after wiping OL2003 completely.

Still looking for answers on OL not working with gmail.

Cheers!

Hi,

I was having problems with other sites as well as gmail, the common thread was SSL or https. I got all kinds of complex suggestions from big company tech support people.

The solution: My router's MTU setting was 1492, the Columbus setting, because I had previously used DSL, and my internal TCP setting was the max, 1500. TCP Optimizer is one good way to test and set this. All I did was change the router's MTU setting to 1500 leaving the internal setting at 1500. Voila! Problem solved, game over.

TCP Optimizer can be downloaded HERE

HTH.
