Thanks for the link, but what I meant was "Where in Vista do I look to see what version of Java is installed"? Sorry about that, I haven't been able to find the "Remove programs" thing yet, if it's there at all

From the control panel (Vista Mode, not classic), there is a Programs Category with which you can view installed programs, or add/remove programs smilenod

Works:

Yahoo Toolbar 6.2.4.0 (with Anti-Spy)
Google Toolbar 3.0.131.0
WinPatrol 9.8.1.0

NOTE: To install WinPatrol, when you get to the download page HERE, do NOT click Free Download - Install WinPatrol English (9.8.1.0). Instead, click right under that where it says Click here for WinPatrol Alternate Setup.

Only the "Alternate Setup" will work.

On my laptop:
*Firefox 1.5.0.1 works fine
*The Cisco VPN software 4.6.0.2 does not work. The service it needs to run doesn't install for some reason.
*core FTP LE 1.3c works fine
*DVD decrypter 3.4.5.0 works fine
*Netstumbler 0.4.0 doesn't appear to work, it says that 'no APs active' even though Vista seems 'em
*gallery remote 1.5 works fine, even though the icon didn't install
*google earth works fine (using directx mode)
*i8kfangui works fine
*irfanview works fine
*iTunes 6.0.3.5 works fine
*lexmark printer drivers (x5150 all-in-one) installed fine. Haven't tried printing anything yet though.
*MS keyboard/mouse software does not install, but the work fine (haven't tried XP compatibility mode)
*mIRC works fine
*pdf995 doesn't work right.
*Adobe acrobat 7.0.7 works fine
*Treesize has problems reading alot of directories due to permission settings, but works fine otherwise
*ultraVNC viewer works fine, but the server doesn't work out of the box
*WinSCP works fine
*Audacity worked fine when I first installed it, but has since stopped working, due to sound card drivers, I think
*winRAR works fine
*Media player classic works fine
*Trillian pro works fine, as do all of the plugins and stuff that I use
*java 5.0 installed fine.
*winamp 5.2 works fine

Works:

AIMLite 3.0

Every so often I get a balloon saying that "this version of AIM is incompatible with this version of Windows" or something like that. It wasn't up long enough to write it down. But it appears to be working.

Works, but with some issues

PowerDVD 4.0 -- The software does not work properly with some Graphics Cards (having TV-Out), leading to the error that copy-protected DVDs cannot be played. DVDs NOT having the copy protection can be viewed normally.
