From StriderHiryu:

"Well I finally figured it out, thanks to no one here. If anyone has similar problems like in my earlier post, this is how you fix it. Go to the BIOS, disable the boot device; the second boot device (or whatever one that is not your floppy and not your CDROM), then go and set the SCSI boot order."

Disable the Gigaraid chip?

Can you elaborate on how you did it? Step by Step?

Thanks.

hey htt,

I haven't toyed with the settings in awhile, once something is working, I tend to leave it that way wink

If I remember correctly though, GigaRAID is for IDE3 and IDE4 right? If so, leave that in RAID (mine are in RAID even though I don't use them as RAID, if you choose the other option I find it takes longer to boot).

Boot into your BIOS, and go to place where you set the Boot sequence (sorry I don't remember exactly what heading it was under). I think there's 3 devices for the boot sequence, just disable one the ones you don't need. Since this MB is old, to set up the boot sequence order for SATA devices, you have to go to the SCSI boot order, then you set your main SATA drive as the first device. I hope this helps...

hi guys,

A strange problem has occured! I have 8KNXP motherboard, 2 maxtror drives 120GB RAID-0 with and 2 versions of windowsXP pro installed. After i restarted my pc to enter the 2d Windows i got the following message:

Please wait for IDE scan..
Drive 0: Not Detected
Drive 1: Maxtor 6Y120P0 Array 0
Drive 3: Not Detected
Drive 4: Maxtor 6Y120P0 IDE 3

Error!! RAID configuration error...
Press <Ctrl-G> to enter Setup Utility

i press Ctrl-G, i enter the gigaraid setup utility but nothing can be done. It says clearly Status non-functional. In the RAID Card Configuration menu i see:

Channel Size Array no. Drive Mode

Pri/D1 Maxtor 6Y120P0 * 114 Array 0 U6
Sec/D1 Maxtor 6Y120P0 * 114 Free U6

Another weird thing is that i cannot exit the gigaraid utility, because it says: Array configuration has not been completed yet. Please press any key to continue.

I'm asking for your help! thanks

Hi,

You mentioned in Section 2 to select Sil SATA in the boot sequence in the bios, but I don't see it listed in there. However, without the IDE drives, the PC will boot to the Sil SATA drive without any problems. Once I connect the two IDE drives to IDE3, the PC will attempt to boot to the Master IDE drive and locks up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Peter
