I ran the latest build of longhorn about 5 weeks ago, and everything was fine, albeit after a very long install time. The only drawback was that the ATI Catalyst driver would not work, nor at the time DirectX9, can anyone tell me if this is still the case.
I have read somewhere that DX9 is now suported, is this true?.

I am probably going to reinstall it this weekend, will keep you posted.

The ATi Catalyst driver's do work in one particular fashion... as described by unknowndarknessx for the 9600pro at his thread:
http://www.pronetworks.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17123

Although, when you install LH and it detects your ATi card, it replaces it with a Microsoft ATi driver notoriously called A3. You can install the catalyst drivers with the compatibility emulator in the properties, but no matter what type of fix you do, (as far as we know) you will still see the slowdown in games.

As far as DirectX9 drivers, I wish I could tell you, it has just slipped my mind and I do not have LH in front of me to tell you. Anyways, good luck with LH and installing your catalyst drivers.

directx has not been succesfully installed in longhorn by many people but, XXDEADLYXX claimed otherwise.

''Method of installing DX 9.0b that works (if your playing Halo):

1. Rip out your Halo CD or another source and install every individual .inf. There are a lot, and many come up with Logo Testing errors, ignore them.

2. Cut d3d9.dll from /system32 somewhere else. Now copy the d3d9.dll from the folder of 9.0b into /system32.

Now halo will run fine. Halo is the only app I've seen which needs 9.0b, and I created this method and it works!''
