Hi Everyone,

I've just installed Windows Longhorn 4051 on my computer yesterday. Today I seem to be having a load of problems: confused

A. Some folders can't be opened, even though I am set as a Administrator
B. When I've logged on, it takes a long time to get it started.
C. It freezes a lot
D. It takes a long time to shut down when it gets to "Closing windows services".

I know its only in its Alpha Stages but any help big or small would be great!

From Ian.

P.S: I'm awaiting response from the Moderators for permission to go into the "special forums: huh

P.S.S.S: I'll Stop now. whistle

Hi Ian
You should now be able to see the other forum. Also have you looked at our tips and fixes in this area of the site and try some of them out to resolve your problem with LH.

Hi Ian

As Mac suggested try the Tweaking Guide first...then let us know how things are going for you.

i had the same prob to fix it make a new admin account and when you start up you won't be able to use your old acount (to get the files goto C:\documents and settings\(last name used)\here

once you do that you'll find log on and off are very fast so is shut down its some acount error i ran into i kept using and it ended up where i couldn't log into my computer any more (read the ctrl alt del thread for detals)

hope this helps

Thanks for you help,

I was supposed to close this discussion earlier because I deleted the Administrator account and made myself administrator. But thanks anyway.

Hello PROneT Members,

I have been using the program regscrubxp on XP Home (shutdown @ 7 sec. after using its tweak) so I thought I’d try it on Longhorn to try to speed up its shutdown process & see how well it works.
Latest test: I timed the restart time to desktop @ 2:20 before & 1:27 after by only using the modify for shutdown tweak.

There is also a registry scanner but you probably need to be careful scanning the reg at least on your Main OS. In Lh I found & fixed 64 problems, restarted & found another 6, fixed them also.

The path to the faster shutdown is… Misc (tab)/ Shutdown XP faster/ then hit the modify button.

At google there are several links there for...regscrubxpsetup_3.2.exe

....shreader

I found this post by shreader, should help you speed up your shutdown
