IT's amazing (and I'm NOT bashing) that we're a tech forum, that's happily talking about, and giving info about squakers, peepers, tweeters and the like ... :D
It shows a more mature management style, and much more decent administrators then another site I was formally a member of.

Hi Sarah, sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Kiwi's breeder was in Piedmont, SC if I recall correctly (near Clemson). Their names are George and Louise Jacks and the name of their "business" is 'Jack's Aviary.' Their phone number is (864) 845-6064.
As for Leila, we've been told in about another 10 days she'll be ready to come home with us. They are making sure she's fully weaned. Hard to believe the bird below looked like this just a few months ago.

Just curious, but anyone have or know anyone (JoAnn?) that has experience with the Rose-breasted Cockatoo (aka the Galah)? Our California breeder also raises those and I'm starting to get weak about my Cockatoo love thing. I've already found out they are the least dusty of the Too's and also don't scream like the others. Basically they're like big Cockatiels, just bolder.
They are beautiful. Expensive suckers though over here. In Australia people just go out and catch them, they're a pest.

John, I've heard they are the prize if you can get a hold of one. More trainable, lovable, dont scream. beautiful!. Now you got me wanting to research these guys.
Are you thinking of one? Are you building onto your house, lol

The breeder that is raising Leila just happens to also breed Rosie's too; those are actually the only two they breed. The more research I've done on them, the more rare I realize they truly are. Thinking back on it, I think I've only seen them once or twice in person, usually just in photos or on a video (like our bird sitter videos).
If we had the money for another bird right now, I'd probably go ahead and get one - they've got two left from the Spring babies; and they only breed the Rosie's once a year. I think they go for about $1300 a baby. The Ekkies are a little less since they can breed twice a year I believe.
We already had to get a second and larger parrot cage for Leila when she arrives. We wanted to make sure Kiwi warmed up to her before we put them in the same cage. So we're going to have a second cage with no bird soon - I may put the 'Tiels in it though since it'd give them even more room. I'm hoping to move all the cages up to the bird room actually, and create a large play area with branches, ropes, etc downstairs. That way the birds are with us when we're home, and upstairs together when we're not safe in their room. We have a TV in there now that loops the bird sitter video (the concept used to sound funny) and they can chat, scream, and whistle all day long together now.
Natasha even wants to start a parrot-oriented website, LOL.

Will do.
I read in one book last night, pound for pound the Rosie's produce lest dust than the Cockatiel?? That's pretty crazy if it's true, but the breeder did say they are a lot less dusty. Considering we have 7 'Tiels, now that's a lot of dust.
That's been one thing I love about the Eclectus, no real dust to speak of. Doesn't bother us so much allergy wise, just makes a thin coast of dust on Everything, LOL.

I have my 2 cockateils in a small bedroom just for them, with an aircleaner going 24/7. Its surprising how much dust the machine catches .
Just a white patch covers the charcoal in a couple weeks.

Yeah we're going to have to get a better filter for that room. The one we have now is for small rooms, but with that much dander, it's clogged in no time and doesn't do anything worthwhile.
YouTube has some really funny Rosie videos I'll have to post later. One especially cracked me up - they are little clowns.

The air filter helped me big time in the bird room; my allergies about drove me crazy before we put it in there. Once we have everyone I may make the webcam available again. Right now I have it so I can watch all of them from work, LOL.
We got our first photo of the Rosie's... one of these will be our new girl.
