Vivendi Universal Games announced yesterday that it is developing a 3D game based on the long-running Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube consoles.
Developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software and licensed by Fox Interactive, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds is a third-person adventure game described as a "lost episode" from season five of the show.
Vivendi explained that the game includes likenesses of cast members as well as a number of cast member voiceovers.
Chaos Bleeds involves a tale in which a dimensional 'bleed' has been enabled by Pure Evil to consume humanity once and for all.
In addition to being able to take on the role of Buffy, Vivendi promised that gamers will be able to choose to play as one of five other characters from the show.
"Over the course of seven years, the Buffy series has developed millions of ardent fans, many of whom are console gamers," said Michael Pole, senior vice president and general manager at Vivendi Universal Games.
"Fans of the show will be able to play the part of their favourite Buffy characters in a fully interactive gaming experience."
