Windows Server "Longhorn" is Now Windows Server 2008

Well, the name change is all but official. Mary Jo caught the first glimpse of it the other day, and now Microsoft France has spilled the beans too. Not only does the TechNet France site carry the new logo, but so does their TechNet Beta Center. Clicking the "Obtain the Applications" link takes you to an English language TechNet site that lets you register for Windows Server 2008 Beta 3.

I knew that they were going to think up a name like that. Only I figured that it would be 2007.

Just a new name for now, I haven't seen another Beta 3 besides the Windows Server "Longhorn" one.
I clicked on a few links & drilled down some at the 'TechNet France' site & only found Lh Server info & a sign-up for TechNet stuff... AFAICT

Some of the Server 2008 links point to "Longhorn" pages, others go to pages that have already been done up with the Server 2008 name, logo, and sometimes new graphics.

But yeah Daniel, it's "just" a new name ...

I found a WinHEC link over in Larrys Events Coverage Thread.

The Virtual WINHEC video is still calling it Windows Server “Longhorn” Beta 3.
Interesting distribution processes MS is using omg

Not a real big deal, but, does anyone know if you download the Beta now if it says Server 2008 in the corner after install, instead of Longhorn Server or whatever it says I forget.
