MMORPG Exarch


Dragons meet killer robots? now that makes a change.


NCsoft have announced the first details of a forthcoming MMORPG, Exarch. Previously going under the working title of Trade Wars: Dark Millenium, Exarch is a futuristic combat-based RPG set in one of those obligatory enormous virtual worlds that we've become so familiar with.

Inevitably it's a world in torment, the Empire has collapsed leaving the ruling governors, the Exarchs to battle over what remains. This sci-fi setting will offer environments such as mystical forests and alien catacombs for exploration by characters with a distinctly traditional flavor. The armor, weapons and even the hordes of adversaries will have a reassuringly familiar fantasy feel, with undead and dragons rubbing scaly shoulders with the likes of robots and mutants.

This amalgam of races is being developed by Phoenix-based Realm Interactive, who just happen to have comic book crayon pusher Joe Madureira, within their ranks. The former X-Men artist, also known for the successful Battle Chasers series, will lend his own unmistakable visual style to what looks like a highly promising contender for 2004.
