What an afternoon. I picked up my kids, started on the rest of the staining on the shed.....and I get "called" outside to help southernbell (her forum name) catch a snapping turtle. And he wasn't a little guy either. mad

Needless to say, my almost (April) 8 yr. old boy was too afraid to pick him up.....so I did it. Bunch of sissy kids.

Then, like I've said the rain has been non-stop for weeks....so we have very big puddles. So, I start trying to grab my son(because he was being a smart.....(you-know-what).....next thing I know, my "friend" tells her kids to get me into the puddle that the kids have already been into. So, they all attack me. I'm in the mud puddle with the kids (ewww, my hair!!!).

Then she was in the puddle......hell, yeah, if I go in....so does she. smilenod smilenod smilenod smilenod

And now my house is muddy and my kids are almost ready for parent-teacher conference....

Good-night rolleyes confused eek saywhat

LOL, that was my afternoon cool

LOL, that sounds like a lot of fun! I can just picture the mess, but your kids will never forget it that memory.

Well I have to admit it was a crazy afternoon... We were all covered in mudd . I think that was the BIGGEST snapping turtle I have ever seen. I still can't believe she picked it up. I held out a stick and it bit the stick in half. We all had to go to the school this evening for parent teacher conferences. I noticed sitting there talking to my daughters teacher they still had dirt in there ears (how embarassing) But you know I told SCJwl that if we had went to a spa for a mudd bath it would have cost a fortune atleast this one was free and a whole lot more fun.... smilenod lol tongue blink

the good ole south.

Nothing up here in my frozen tundra. The rain has finally melted off the remainder of the snow. I can see grass now!!!

I agree, snapping turtles are so prehistoric looking, not a pretty sight and the stench that comes off them is not so nice either. Angie, you were braver than I would be...

Mike, I still have snow in my yard. sad

Sounds like a "splendiferous" afternoon to me... smilenod

Snapping turtles... hmmm ...There is a very large lake here on the property...just above my cottage...Every year we have to invite people in to reduce the size of the snapping turtle population...And every year there are at least 40 of them in that lake...The lake is always fully stocked with fish...and a great deal of wildlife visit on a regular basis...The sad part of the turtles being here...is that every year...the same pair of wild geese return to raise a family...And again every year the goslings don't survive...Makes me sad to watch the babies disappear yet once more... cry ...Nature will do...what nature does...But I would just love to see that lake full of wild geese as opposed to snapping turtles... sad
