I have an XP partition, and now I have a Vista Beta 2 partition. I installed VistBoot Pro and it SAYS I have 2 OS's - XP and Microsoft WIndows (which I renamed to Vista) and it tells me they are on the drives that I expect them to be on.

It says I should get a boot menu with a 10 second delay where I can select XP or Vista but I get NO boot menu, it just boots right to Vista!

How do I get the BOOT MENU?????

Well I answered my own question.

First, in order to run BCDEDIT (which is a command-line tool) as ADMINISTRATOR I created a shortcut on my desktop to CMD and then right-clicked this to RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR; the resulting command line window has administrator privileges, so you can run BCDEDIT there and it will work.

Then I looked at the BCDEDIT FAQ

so I ran

bcdedit /set {legacy} path \ntldr

After rebooting the Boot Menu appeared and allowed me to select XP or VISTA.

The problem was, although VistaBootPRO lets you select the drive for the legacy boot option, it does NOT allow you to set the PATH and the EXECUTABLE NAME (A serious oversight IMHO) which in this case is \NTLDR
