Hi Guys n' Babes,
I just found out that there are only 3 weeks left before the competition is over for this season. They have waves scoring high marks from 7 different different spots. The rider that rides the biggest wave wins $1,000.00 per foot of face height (minimum $60,000. US dollars), anyway i wanted to share this link with you so you could check the pictures & other info. if interested.
Enjoy.......shreader

Mac, they are awesome, aren't they. Being towed into them is one thing but actually paddling in one (last few shots) is another as the drop will be undoubtedly much later / steeper / scarier. There is NFW i would want to try either, especially at my age.

If anyone was wondering, its come down to...
Us versus Oui: The five finalists for the annual Billabong XXL Biggest Wave of the Year award were just announced, and appropriately enough, it's France versus the USA. How'd you like them freedom fries?
In alphabetical order: Fred Basse (France) at Belharra Reef, France on March 10; Cheyne Horan (Australia) at Jaws, Maui, Hawaii on November 26; Noah Johnson (USA) at Jaws; Sebastian St. Jean (France) at Belharra Reef; Makua Rothman (USA) at Jaws.
Judges will spend the coming weeks jacked on coffee and arguing about whose is bigger. Winner is announced on April 18th.

Without breraking out my scale my eyeballs tell me that..Cheyne Horan (Australia) at Jaws, Maui, Hawaii on November 26, 2002 is the biggest wave.
It is strange that the first & last shots (photos) of the same place look very much like the same wave but with diffrent surfers, how did the french do that?
Anyway which one do you think is bigger?

I can't figure out why they are measuring them on Maui's North Shore.
I mean Oahu's North Shore is way more brutal on the waves than Maui by a long shot. It's mainly because of the reef off the coast.
Go figure?

I case anyone wants to watch(?), listen...
The Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards is happening on Friday, April 18th down in Anaheim; the invite-only event is sold out, but it'll be webcast starting at 7:30pm on BillabongXXL.
Also: With demand for tickets to the invitation-only ceremony greatly exceeding the 1500-person capacity of the Grove of Anaheim Theater, a live webcast of the entire evening's festivities has been arranged. From the red-carpet arrivals to the video recap of the year's best rides to the victory speeches to the post-ceremony press conference, it will all be transmitted to the world in on the front page of this site. The feed begins at 7:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on April 18.
Here is a link to their front page.. it doesn't go to the webcast (yet).
