I installed VistaBootPRO. I have a Vista partition and a XP partition, on diffferent drives. I can start both Vista and XP through a BIOS bootmenu. I added the XP to the Vista boot manager with VistaBootPro.
I get an errormessage that "windows did not start correctly. Could not find the file \ntldr. status: 0xc000000f"
What now?

Hi adrie and welcome to PROnetworks!

Sorry you are having difficulties with your boot configuration. I believe that the reason for this is due to the fact that you have been switching the Hard drive boot sequence from within your BIOS and have Vista and XP installed on seperate drives. When you change the boot sequence from within the BIOS you basically end up telling the OS that the drive you are booting from is the system drive and has all the core files needed to boot your OS on it. In this case, when you boot from Vista, it doesn't have the files on the system drive which are needed to boot into XP.

I haven't run into this issue before, but you might want to try copying your boot files from your XP system drive to your Vista system drive - mainly ntldr, NTDetect.com, and boot.ini - you may need to alter your boot.ini file here to point to the correct drive. As I have not done this myself, I can't guaranteee this will fix your problem, and perhaps someone else here has run into the exact scenario, but it is worth a try and shouldn't cause any difficulties in booting the way you are now even if it doesn't work.

When you get a chance, stop by our Introduction Area and introduce yourself smilenod

I copied my boot files from XP to Vista, changed the boot.ini and it worked. Perfect. The only problem now is that I have two boot menu's. The boot.ini bootmenu has to be adjusted, not big a problem. Thanks.
