Programs that work or don't - Windows Vista CTP Build 5270
The purpose of this thread is to have a convenient list of which programs work and don't work in Windows Vista December CTP Build 5270 to include any workarounds that members may have found.
When posting, please use the following guidelines:
1) PLEASE read this first post and only post items that are NOT included on this list - the items you post will be added to this list.
2) If you have an issue with a program that is listed as working, please post to a new thread so other members can help you.
3) If you have found a way to get a program working that is on the "not working" list, please post what you did to get it to work.
4) Please try to be specific when listing software to include builds and version numbers where possible. Also, if you have installed this program on x64 please put 'x64' next to the program name.
*Note: Often because of different hardware and software set-ups there may be hardware and software that work for some members and not for others.

Works, but with some issues
Acronis True Image 9 - installs and runs except When you try to create an image, if you type in the save dialog the name of hte backup file you want to call it, it will crash. (You need to browse to the folder via the nav bar, then press the little button next to the name text-box that generates a name for you autmoatically - - CD-Backend for making a bootable recovery medium does not work either; you will need to burn that ISO from another PC)
HP printer drivers (photosmart series) - drivers install but printer preferences option does not work thus limiting printing functions.
InstallSheild 11 - Attempting to install will cause issues with explorer.exe, graphics drivers, and uxss.exe (workaround is to run in classic theme. Express, no-DWM, etc. will NOT work. You need to COMPLETELY disable all animations, disable DWM, use the classic theme, then you can install it.
After install feel free to go back to DWM, etc.)
MSN Messenger v7.5 (Build 7.5.0311) - some members have reported issues with graphics and text
MSN Toolbar - issues when exiting from IE7, but otherwise usable
Net Framework 1.1 - some members have reported issues with installing this
NOD32 - error extracting for some, works for others
Office 12 Beta - installs and works for the most part, but a Beta on a Beta is always iffy.
Doesn't Work
Avast - try to install, says "An error 740 (000002E4) has occurred. last performed operation was: spawning"
Deamon tools 4.00 - under investigation
Drivers for Envy24 Audio chipset - issues on some Motherboards have been reported with the Vista Beta, Legacy, and Via Envy24 drivers
IPSwitch WS_FTP Professional 2006 - Secure Loader Error
iTunes/Quicktime - do not install because of a 1607 error.
NOD32 Enterprise - will not even extract (says "cannot create file xxxx")

ScanWizard 5 v6.11 -- this is the package includes both the driver as well as controller program, and Scanner Configuration software, for the Microtek Scanmaker 4900 (The software does install, but when trying to run it, the scanner is not found. "Add new hardware" says it cannot locate the driver on the computer or online.)
Windows Live Messenger 8 - a possible workaround for this
Zone Alarm Pro 6 - installs but will not run
