now we need to brush.
download brush packs from here:
http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/applications/psbrushes/?view=1&order=5&limit=24

1. we go layer>new>layer and brush

2. then go layer>new>layer and set layer to "soft light"

Repeat step #2 a couple of times. if it get's to dark, make a new layer and change foreground color
to white.

here's what i have:

now we need a render. i chose this:

then choose the lasso tool

and use these settings:

then mark up your render like this:

in the layers pallete. add a layer mask by pressing this button:

and change the layer to "luminosity"

now you should have something similar to this

add some text. this is what i have:

Ctrl +Shift + E to merge all visible.

go ctrl +u and do it like this to remove all colors. (if you have any other colors than black and white

image>adjustments>color balance

add a border. whatever you would like. i chose a 1px black border

Enjoy
~Eirik
Post your results!!

I havent tried PSP in a while but remember it being insanely difficult... of course I thought hte same of photoshop too until I learned how to use it...

I think that tut should work with fireworks too, I didnt see much of a differnce between the 2 except for of course the name wink

I am not as advanced a user eirik...if he says PS is better then it probably is...

Still you gotta work with what you got unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket LOL

no I don`t think its bad. Its really all user preference as to how you want it to look. Just experiment a bit and you`ll come up with something you like. If you make something you like remember to save it often so you dont lose it

nope it's not bad.

the example i used in this tutorial, is some kind of fantasy image.

if u use brushes, it's best to use color balance. if you just use a image of a sky, or a bike or anything "real" do not change the colors.
