The "Copy to Clipboard" feature is, as any active user of online forums would agree, an excellent idea.

However, I, for once, don't use that button solely because of the alert window that pops up. I rely on the good ol' ctrl+c.


I think it would be a good idea to tweak this feature to either:

a. give the user the control of the alert window: it should always pop up unless the user defined he didn't want to see it;
b. make the "copy to clipboard" function automatic whenever the user clicked submit;
c. to avoid solution b's intrusiveness we could add a checkbox to the post options that would enable or disable this automatic feature (very much like the "Notify me when a reply is posted").
d. instead of a checkbox we could add a third and fourth buttons: "Copy to Clipboard and Submit" and "Copy to Clipboard and Preview";
e. when submitting or previewing a new pop-up window would open with the contents of the post (risky because submit process could fail);
f. any of the above combined.
