| First of all, welcome to pronet remix. Second of all, I am glad you feel better. I dont know that I have really ever been depressed, but you are right, life as we know it has its ups and downs. I am going through a tough time right now, and hopefully I don tget depressed. |
Well, part of my depression (when it got really bad) coincided with the suicide of a good friend of mine. I don't mean to spill my heart or anything, but yeah....
And by the way, thanks for the welcome.

Nice one Jeff and i'm glad your feeling better. You have a long life ahead of you, and some serious hurdles to cross in it, like marriage, relationships, career choices, disappointments, and bereavement. When you are young, and it's not clinical depression you have, then it is the easiest thing in the world to learn to have a positive outlook. If you take the time to look outside of yourself instead of looking in and worrying about the minutest of things, then this is a good start. Learn to make the most of every opportunity that comes your way, and ensure you get out and about and move in circles of your friends and peers. The busier your life is, then the less you have time to sit and think about negative things. As a previous poster said. Exercise is the best thing for depression as there's no pills involved, and it helps release the good endorphins that give you that 'feel good' factor. I still walk ten miles a day at least three days a week, and at my time of life, it has kept my energy levels higher than most of my peers. Life is there to be enjoyed to the full, not wasted in negative thought. People should never feel sorry for themselves, but instead count their blessings and make their mind up not to waste another day of their life by being negative. In time the days start running out, and you cannot press the rewind button, and you do not want to reflect on negativity, rather you want to be able to look back on a fulfilled and happy life. Always make sure your cup is half full, not half empty. Determine within yourself that you will never again sit about and let depression get a hold. As soon as the first signs are there, then get up and go and do something different. You only get out of life what you put into it.
All the best my friend.

Thanks Mac, it is great to know that everyone one here is supportive to what ever cause. And I'll keep that offer in mind, although it might be a very long time till I take you up on it.

Ditto on that Jeff. I know well what you are talking about and going through. While no two situations are alike, either in detail or causes, etc... I think it is fair to say people can understand the things other people are feeling and going through, at least enough to try and help.
I've been in your shoes many times in the last few years of my life... finally decided to turn it all around, and I did. Sometimes... you're right... it's the little things that add up. New friends, a haircut, a change in the workplace, or a new major. Combined they can make a new world for you... one where the sky is truly the limit.
You can learn an awful lot about someone through a few thousand posts too... you'd all be surprised.
Just remember, you're always amongst friends here. They got me through some rough times in the last three years... put me to the top of my game for the first time in a long time. I have no doubt we'll see great things from you. Call it a good feeling...

Very nice post John, and Jeff, John sums it up. He has made a remarkable change to his life, and i'm sure some of us on PROneTworks helped. We truly care for our folks here, and we will always do our best to help when someone hollers.

Jeff I know how bad depression can get. Anything that works for you, go for it and live your life.
