I just realized that I am doing thing again that I had not dome since before I had depression beginning of last year. I use to jog 3Km every 2nd day, I was more social, more out there... That sort of thing, anyway when I got depressed I stopped being normal and became closed in. I rarely did anything anymore, and after I recovered I was still in that routine of not doing anything, not getting out and living.
Then the other day, last Tuesday actually, it all changed. Why? Because of one very little thing… A haircut, not just any haircut, I got bits of my hair bleached. I look totally different and I feel totally different. I feel more out there, more like I was before I was depressed. I know it may sound silly, that everything has changed because of a “change of hair” but it is true. Something as minor as getting a haircut and changing the color of some of my hair has turned out to be one of the best things that I have done for a very long time.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have changed a fair bit because of something as small as this.
Jeff

Jeff, I do not know you very well at all. But I have something to say about this. If you are able to realize that this is a problem for you and the way it makes you behave, then cant you make a difference?, Meaning if you are aware of the problem, cant you redirect your feelings or emotions to better suit your overall well being? Richard. I am only asking is all.

The thing being I use to be depressed, I took action about it and I went to see my doctor. Then when I recovered from the depression I just never got around to doing the things I use to do, until last Tuesday when I got the haircut and now I am jogging again. Catching up with old friends and the like. From what I can tell the haircut was what finished placing my feet back where they were.

I've had depression for a long time now. I kept switching meds, and nothing worked in the long term. Finally, my doctor recommended that I get daily excercise to get the endorphins going, and I've been running 3 miles every day. Those 3 miles have helped me more than any medication ever had before, and the excercise combined with Zoloft (and my new better physique) has killed my depression. Life is tough like that, but these things can help so much.

Good to hear Jeff. I hope it just keeps getting better and better for you. I know as a female, a great haircut, a killer pair of jeans or shoes, some great perfume can go a long way to making you feel better about yourself. Sometimes you need that little extra lift.
