Alright the first one's here...

Just got a heads up from my professor:

Link 2 - It's a long url

SPECIAL FEATURE...
AS OF 2100 UTC 1009 MB LOW WAS E OF THE BAHAMAS NEAR 26N70W WITH TROUGH EXTENDING NE TO 30N63W AND S FROM THE LOW INTO THE WINDWARD PASSAGE. THE LOW IS WELL-DEFINED IN THE LOW CLOUDS BUT HAS NO SIGNIFICANT DEEP CONVECTION NEAR THE CENTER. THE SYSTEM HAS VERY STRONG VERTICAL WIND SHEAR BUT THIS COULD DIMINISH AS IT ACCELERATES SOME MOVING TOWARD THE NE NEAR THE CREST OF THE UPPER RIDGE TO THE E. THIS AREA IS BEING MONITORED FOR SIGNS OF DEVELOPMENT AND COULD BECOME A TROPICAL CYCLONE IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO. SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS MODERATE CONVECTION IS FROM 27N-32N BETWEEN 63W-68W.

Be sure to also visit my homepage for past Hurricane Information, the Gallery, and much more. (Update: ALL 2004 season updates will be made here, and then tabulated at the end of the season on my homepage).

It looks like it's spinning the wrong way.,..

BTW Hurricane season starts June 1... that's why this is a little weird.

Thankyou, I am loading up the second image now. The one from ssd.

I have never understood how the nameing of Cyclones/Hurricanes works.

Hey John, you are right. Should it not be spinning anti-clockwise? Interesting.

Ok, I will get on my desktop and post a new image he sent me... if you look carefull below the NE precip you can see the counterclockwise spin barely... but it's there. Most of what we are seeing is visible precip actually. Interesting..

And as for storm names.... who knows. Many are weird. In the Pacific there are both John's and Keoni's though, LOL. Never over here though in the Atlanta, but in coming years there will be a Debby (2006) and a Dean (2007) though.

I had heard that all hurricanes were named after men before, anyone know when they added the female names?

Must have been around the 50's... bc there was a Gracie in 1959

...See my homepage Hurricane Center (needs updating)

Before the 1930's or so... maybe earlier they didn't name them at all...

The Storm of the Century (1900, Galveston TX) was never named...
