glad to here that your (or someone, or something) got most of the troubles worked out finally. it seems like you had more than your share of problems with it. don't know why it was giving you so much trouble though. they way you say things are set up it should all just work fine.

I wish I knew... it was all screwed one sec, and fixed the next... it was just weird. I got stuff to work I'd never had work before... go figure.
The USB modem moved with no problems... Router is working like a switch and so is my real switch if I need it... wireless is working, though still can't see files... but that's no big deal.
I may still request Bell South to send me an Ethernet Modem... just to ensure I don't have to do this again one day.
Can you all test this image:
http://www.windowspro.dns2go.com\BirdofParadise.jpg
If you can see that it means the DNS2GO client is working correctly, and I'll test my FTP account with Serv-U 5 in the morning at work. I just remember that the personal editon is free, even after the first 30 days of the evaluation. I'd highly recommend it if you're not using it... great way to connect to the home PC from anywhere. I love it at work/school, though my laptop will replace the need for it.
Thanks again for all the help... hopefully I'm good to go now.

Looking good John! Image of flower of some type I'm not familiar with. Put up an image of beer and I will tell you if it's hot or cold.

LOL
Glad to know it works... I did something right without the devine powers that be, LOL. The flower btw is the Bird of Paradise blossom... big in tropical areas, very famous in Hawai'i.
As for beer... I'll take your word for it, though I do have to ask. How?

John ,
Sorry I could be online. The last message was at 20.30 from work and I had to go home.
I see you are online now. I can see the picture.
One question , though. I also use bridged networking between two PC in my network of 4 ( three desktops and when he's home , my father's laptop ). The two out of three desktops connect to each other through firewire and Lan ( through the switch ) in a bridged network. It occures sometimes that these two PCs can only see themselves and not the other(s) or can't see any other PC but the localhost. So my question is : Do you really have to use the bridge ?
I would remove the brodge unless you have a Firewire hub and all the networked PCs are able to connect through the bridge.

I don't think the Bridges does anything more than makes the two "part" inside my PC's one part. Then that one part connects to the network. I looked on the other PC's, and they all use the Bridge to connect to the network, all using an IP they obtain on their own, EXCEPT the main PC which uses 192.168.0.1... yes a 0.1 at the end. Weird I know, but both PC's with the modem have tried to use that IP. And while I can't try it now, as I'm at work, I still couldn't get to the Router last night using the old IP method. So my thinking is... the Bridges and Network is set up to treat the main PC 192.168.0.1 (which is the Sony now) as the "central" pc to pay attention too. The PC's aren't even paying attention to the Switches or what's connected to them (the Router).
It's not a big issue... it all works, and until it stops I'm gonna leave it this way. I've found the best way to set it all up is to do it on the switch, and then just move cables to the Router... give it a second to see the changes, and it'll work again... all without running any wizards, etc. That was the trick last night... fix it on the switch, then move it to the Router.

Well , John. If you use ICS on a PC then it defaults its IP to xxx.xxx.xxx.1. Perhaps you have used ICS on two machines and that's why both tried to get this IP.

That was why yes... bc I moved the modem without restarting the PC it'd be on... it was easy to correct... I just went and deleted the ADSL connection manager on the PC in my room. Problem solved... and the new PC took on the IP.
I shut down my main PC last night, no problems this morning when I got up getting on the network. My labtop also still could surf last night after the modem move... so I think it was a combination of the network being confused to where the modem was, and the switches not talking.
